ICU Concepts/ Unit 01

Unit 01 · Adult ICU cardiovascular hemodynamics

Hemodynamics, made visible.

What the numbers mean, where they come from, and how they fit together at the bedside — taught in the order the blood actually travels.

Each lesson asks you to predict before it shows you. That order matters: a guess, even a wrong one, gives the explanation something to attach to. Seven lessons, about 39 minutes, written for nursing students and new ICU nurses.

The seven lessons

After Lesson 7, the sandbox opens. Preload, contractility, resistance, vasoactive drugs, and mechanical support (IABP, Impella, VA-ECMO, LVAD, RVAD) — with nothing locked and every consequence visible.

Return visits

Lessons end; memory fades on schedule. Anything you miss is kept here so a two-minute return visit can do the work a re-read never would.

Review queue

Nothing waiting. When you miss a prediction or a rhythm, it will be kept here so you can return to it — that return visit is where the learning actually sticks.
